TALIBAN WARLORDS MUST BE STOPPED

To the editor:

Re: "No mandate for Canada's war commitment," April 5.

The Afghan warlords and their drug trade are no different than the
U.S.'s own mafia dons and their drug empires.

Both will exist until realistic alternatives for their supporters
(poppy growers and addicts) are available and they themselves are
vigorously persuaded by an entrenched and viable justice system.

As for the Taliban, who get so much support form these warlords, they
must be neutralized.

The Roman Catholic Inquisition lasted hundreds of years and the
Taliban, who were in power less than a generation, must not be
allowed to duplicate that legacy!
