BACK CHAT

A new poll showing that just 12 per cent of B.C. residents support
existing marijuana laws, with 69 per cent backing a suggestion to
regulate and tax the drug, quickly became our most-discussed story.
People are tired of gang violence. Join the conversation at:

PROHIBITION HAS FAILED

Marijuana prohibition is the ultimate make-work project.

NO ADDED RISK

Donald Tashkin of UCLA found that smoking marijuana does not appear
to increase the risk of lung cancer or head-andneck malignancies,
even among heavy users.

WHO VOTED FOR LAW?

Why did we even begin pot prohibition? Was there a vote? By anyone still alive?

LAW IS SOME USE

The fact that drug use has not been eliminated does not mean that the
law has no effect.

USERS ARE TO BLAME

Users bankroll the criminals, and are therefore an accessory. You
don't get to claim immunity because you paid someone to do the dirty work.

LAW IS UNENFORCEABLE

When half of society is against a law, it is impossible to enforce.

WANNA BET?

Actually, it isn't.

TAX IT!

Once the government finds a way to tax marijuana, they'll legalize
it. I'm just surprised it's taking this long!

NOTHING NEW

There is little difference between the current prohibition of
marijuana and the old prohibition of alcohol.

COKE TRADE TO BLAME

This will not help curb gang violence. The violence on our streets is
due to the lucrative cocaine trade.

NO WORSE THAN BOOZE

Using pot should not be any more of a crime than drinking.

SEE!

Wine is fine but pot is not?

KILL ALL DRUGGIES

The Singapore model seems to work. Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, any
person importing, exporting or found in possession of more than 500
grams of cannabis, 1,000 grams of cannabis mixture or 200 grams of
cannabis resin receives a mandatory death sentence.

PEOPLE WILL GROW IT

So legalize it and tax it and poof, just like the magic fairy, crime
is solved? Who is going to pay for a taxed product when you can grow
it like a weed, and probably with better quality?
