CRACKDOWN IS MISGUIDED
Re "Feds charge growers, pot shops" (Page A1, Oct. 8): The feds'
threat of prosecuting the sale of medicinal marijuana borders on the
cruelly absurd.
How about taking all those anti-marijuana task force folks and
rounding up every parolee at-large in the state? Nope, that is far
less important in terms of use of public resources than making sure
people with cancer dealing with the brutal effects of chemotherapy
don't smoke a few joints.
I don't believe any reasonable person can deny marijuana profoundly
enhances the quality of life of extremely ill people. Indeed,
majorities in several states agree with the obvious.
Enforcement will result in the removing of safe, regulated and taxed
outlets to violent organized criminal groups reclaiming profits lost
to sales through these shops. Are the feds stoned or what?
