MEDICINE CLAIM ON POT JUST A FRONT
Those with a legitimate need for cannabis medication are a small
contingent within the movement to relax pot prohibition. Estimates
from within the pot-loving population rate it at 5 percent or less.
They do not have a hard time finding their preferred medication.
As far as those who want to be dumbed down and numbed up because it's
the easy way out of reality, I believe all too often their
dysfunctionality is at least partially derived from bad habits, and
the rest of society is often financing their lifestyle.
I also believe that many can enjoy cannabis recreationally and
responsibly with few consequences in the same way others might enjoy
alcohol. Those who cannot use responsibly cause expensive and
life-threatening problems - impacts to emergency and social services,
dangerous criminal activity in our neighborhoods, and inebriated
driving to name a few.
I don't want backyard grows in my area any more than I want meth labs
or alcohol distilleries. I do want heavy regulation of any pot
growing and marketing, with appropriate taxes levied on suppliers to
compensate for the social ills pot causes. I want growers using
legitimate security services to protect their drugs from marauding youth, etc.
Attending one of the community forums regarding the proposed
ordinance, a question came to mind, What gets that many pot smokers
off the couch and frothing at the mouth? The answer was simple. They
are making money off the drug trade and want the rest of us to butt out.
