HYDRO SNOOPING WILL INCREASE DANGERS
Solicitor General John Les's proposed bill to require B.C. Hydro to
report houses with unusually high power bills is a recipe for disaster.
All legislation is subject to the law of unintended consequences, but
in this case, the consequences are completely predictable: unskilled
electricians will construct meter bypasses to avoid a Hydro report,
and the jury-rigged shunts will cause the very fires and explosions
that Les is worried about.
This bill significantly increases the danger to the public and, you
can be sure, will not reduce the number of grow-ops.
It's a truly stupid bill and should be abandoned immediately.
