LEGALIZE DRUGS? GIVE YOUR HEAD A SHAKE
I couldn't agree more with your July 21 "We Say" editorial on the
dangers of legalizing drugs.
Those who even suggest legalizing drugs because it is too costly to
fight the drug war should give their head a shake.
If cost of upholding the law is the issue, why not legalize spousal
abuse, child porn, murder, theft or any other crime?
If legalization is the answer, think about your child or grandchild
being taught by a stoned teacher, or having brain surgery done by a
heroin addict.
How about having a police officer answer a call to your home after
smoking crack cocaine?
What about the president of the United States with his hand on the
nuclear button after a bad trip on speed?
I think any talk of legalization of drugs is a complete erosion of
man's understanding of right from wrong.
If anyone thinks that legalizing drugs will reduce crime, why is
cigarette and liquor smuggling such a major problem?
What kind of world do you want to leave to your child?
