DIABETICS ARE NOT DRUG ADDICTS

Re: yesterday's frontpage story, "U.S. drug war a bust: ex-cop," and
the quote, "I think it is cruel to deprive them of heroin, as cruel
as it is to deprive a diabetic of insulin."

Diabetics are not drug users, they do not choose to have this medical
condition and in no way should it be linked or compared to people who
choose to use recreational drugs. As a journalist you have a choice
whether to print this quote or not, and this is not the way to
educate people regarding a serious medical condition.

The media needs to be more responsible.
