MEDICAL MARIJUANA IDEAS WERE IGNORED
On March 5, I sent the following suggestion to my district legislator
Tom Burnett:
It would be a sad mistake to repeal medical cannabis.
Although I've never once used it I'll be 75 years old tomorrow and
reckon that someday in the not-todistant future I may be glad to ease
the aches and pains of aging with this benign plant. Here are some
suggestions to effective regulation I offer for dealing with the
conceived abuses of the current law:
* Declare null and void all current individual medical marijuana
permits.
* New permits require the signature of two Montana licensed doctors, one
of which must have practiced in the community for a minimum of two
years.
* Only cannabis grown and processed in Montana is allowed.
* Montana-produced cannabis may not be sold out of state.
* Marijuana producers must be licensed at the county level and be
subject to zoning, etc.
* Producers and users are to be catalogued at the state level, and
producers must file an annual report detailing product production and
sales.
* Marijuana sales to be taxed sufficient to pay all costs of recordation
and enforcement.
Sadly, my suggestion was ignored.
