THE DOWNS AND UPS OF GIVING DRUGS TO ADDICTS
Re: Provide drugs to addicts, mayor says, April 21
First it was "safe" injection sites and prescription heroin. Next it
was homeless alcoholics asking for free wine. Now we have yet another
Vancouver mayor, Sam Sullivan, with a gentle, soft, harm reduction
plan. Oh, my stars, when are people going to get it?
If half the money put into harm reduction was applied to meaningful
treatment, many addicts would return to productive lives. If I had
cancer, the last thing I would do is ask a doctor for more cancer; I
would be actively seeking a cure.
Addicts cannot make good decisions. Let's facilitate treatment and
recovery, not more illness.
