GOOD FOR CHALMERS FOR SPEAKING OUT
I really appreciate reporter Joe Nickell's article, "Medical
marijuana: Cancer patient's message: Pot helps."
I know Roger Chalmers. He and I lobbied together for many years at
both the state and federal level. I remember him as an honorable man
who lived with the courage of his convictions. It comes as no surprise
to me that he would sacrifice his personal privacy and share his
plight, in order to ensure other Montanans will have the right to live
with dignity and receive the medical care they need without fear of
legal retribution.
I only hope the Montana Legislature will match this man's courage and
maintain our rights to the health care we choose, rather than the
health care that is chosen for us.
And thank you to the Missoulian for giving Roger Chalmers a voice in
this issue. I know firsthand, if he could walk, he would be roaming
the state capitol right now to see justice done.
Godspeed.
