LET'S TALK ABOUT MARIJUANA

LVW/Oakland Hosts Panel Discussion May 5

It's time to talk about marijuana.

With all the confusion about the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, not
to mention the lawsuits and arrests, a public debate on the topic
seems more than timely.

The League of Women Voters-Oakland Area will host a panel discussion
on "Impact of Medical Marijuana," 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at the
Bloomfield Township Hall. A panel will discuss the impact of medical
marijuana on local communities and issues related to implementing its
usage from the viewpoint of patients, cities and law enforcement. The
members of the panel are as follows:

Neil Rockind, attorney and member of Marijuana Patients Organization
and Sensible Michigan. His office is representing a Birmingham couple
who is suing Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills and Livonia over their
policies on medical marijuana.

Dave Crist, attorney for the city of Ferndale.

Jan Roncelli, Bloomfield Township clerk.

Beth Hand, head of Narcotics for the Oakland County Prosecutor's
Office.

The Bloomfield Township Hall is located at 4200 Telegraph. For
information, call (248) 594-6602.
