POT'S HERE TO STAY

Re. "Potheads ruining Breckenridge" by Lorie Willis, letters, March 21

You say you've been vacationing with your family at Breckenridge for
five years? I really do hate to inform you that marijuana has been
around much, much longer than that and - legalization or not - it's
not going anywhere. I don't smoke pot, nor do I condone or encourage
its use. I believe the true issue here isn't with the choices people
make, but with your holier-than-thou attitude.

While I do realize that tourism is the major staple of Breck, I also
know that it's not the tourists like you who hold it together. If
Breckenridge was meant for the "better to do than you," then I suppose
you wouldn't mind if your children said they wanted to be a lift
attendant or waitress there. I mean, only the people who have money to
shop in the higher-end places and eat the classy food should have the
jobs that hold its economy together, right?

I'm not saying don't come back to Summit County. It really is sad that
you refuse to bring your family back to such an amazing place because
of your poor attitude. Maybe you should explain to your children your
views on marijuana instead of fleeing at the "sight" of it. Why
bother? Because it's everywhere - whether you want to believe it or
not.
