NO DRUGS IN SCHOOLS DURING THE 1950S
Regarding the March 1 letter about guns being sold in hardware stores
in the 1950s, when there were no school massacres ("Crime stats, gun
laws don't mesh"): Schools in the 1950s also did not have students
using marijuana, meth, PCP, heroin or other such drugs. The lack of
violence in schools back then may have been because schools were
drug-free and gun-free.
