HARM REDUCTION PROVEN TO WORK
To the editor:
I'm very glad that Mr. Hasiuk is watching the SALOME project
closely.
I too am concerned about conflicts of interest leading to poor science
in this very sensitive area of public policy.
That said, in several places in his column, Mr. Hasiuk veers from the
path he is qualified to navigate (and where he provides a valuable
public service) into drawing conclusions he has apparently made no
effort to base in fact.
There is plenty of well-conducted research in the area of harm
reduction through addiction maintenance. Mr. Hasiuk should either do
his homework or he should stick to what he knows. By drawing baseless
conclusions, he distracts from his main point, and diminishes the
impact of his better-founded conclusions.
