RESTORE RIGHT TO CANNABIS

Re: Pot benefits organized crime (April 22).

Letter-writer Susan Van Dreser should do well to remember all the
lives lost to insure our little freedom. The obligation of citizens
is to oppose unjust and hypocritical laws like cannabis prohibition
that are the cause of the bikers selling pot in the first place. The
demand is being filled by entrepreneurs who have a totally untaxable
product. There were no organized crime syndicates before alcohol
prohibition but the business model is obviously still successful for
currently banned recreational drugs. There would be no bikers
involved at all if the people's natural rights to cannabis
agriculture were restored, nor would terrorists have access to large
sums of cash were all drugs properly regulated.

Instead, we are forced to endure a narco-police state in order to
attempt to restrict cannabis (and other drugs) because some people
believe they have the right to choose for others how they can live.
Others with the rallying cry "what about the children?" work
tirelessly to insure that kids have access to drugs via the
uncontrolled black market.

The cannabis laws were born in racism and have perpetuated all the
worst ills of drug abuse with zero control for the state. It's time
to wake up and smell the pot and restore freedom. Legalize and
regulate cannabis.
