BACK CHAT
Sunday's gangland shooting on Vancouver's Oak Street that sent 10
people to hospital disgusted and infuriated readers, with many calling
for much steeper sentences for low-lifes convicted of gun crimes. Join

Unfriendly city
Oh, it's Vancouver. What do you expect? This is becoming a very
unfriendly place to live.
Pot shot
If we were able to grow our own pot that would put a huge dent in
organized crime's profits.
Jail terms
Cowards who can't fight, or try and get a beating, use guns. The Feds
should impose prison sentences for any coward/loser caught carrying a
gun in public.
Scary Amsterdam
The message tourists get is, hey, go to Amsterdam and order some hash
with your coffee. I should send you to a couple of friends of mine who
came out of there with stories that would scare away many of these
tourists.
Path to hell
I think we should all pray and educate the children about anger and
violence and how it is a path to hell itself.
Registry failure
I don't know if anybody is keeping count, but that's one more tragedy
that wasn't prevented by the gun registry. And that's one more tragedy
that won't be solved by the registry either! Too bad we couldn't use
the time and money to go after the gangs.
Wake-up call
I wonder how many of these lovely individuals are out on bail awaiting
trial on other charges. Thank you, judges. To all the posters who
figure that legalizing drugs will stop this idiocy, you really need to
wake up.
Tougher penalties
We will be safer when we have tougher penalties for these incidents.
Longer incarceration will keep these hoodlums off the street.
Legalize drugs
Legalize all drugs and put the gangs out of business, then deal with
the social problems, which would remain the same as they are now.
Gang unemployment
Legalizing marijuana won't end gang violence, but there will be an
increase in gang unemployment. It would free up more time for cops and
courts to pursue violent offenders.
Mandatory sentences
We need to increase mandatory minimum sentencing for gun-related
offences to 10 years. Get these gangsters off the street because it is
only a matter of time before an innocent bystander gets killed.
Death penalty
We have the best cops and worst court system in the world. We need
mandatory sentences, the death penalty and instant deportation.
