HEARING ON FERRYSBURG MEDICAL POT LAW THURSDAY

FERRYSBURG - A public hearing on a draft ordinance regulating the use
and growth of medical marijuana will be held at the Ferrysburg
Planning Commission meeting on Thursday.

City officials hope to clarify an amendment to the Michigan
Constitution that allows for medicinal use of marijuana. The proposed
ordinance includes limits on where licensed caregivers can grow the
plant and forbids patients from smoking in areas visible to neighbors
or other members of the public.

The proposed ordinance is similar to those passed by Grand Haven and
Grand Haven Township, said City Manager Craig Bessinger.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. at Ferrysburg City Hall, 17290 Roosevelt Road.
