TAX ON MEDICINE SETS SCARY PRECEDENT
EDITOR:
I understand there are many people who are disappointed that the
medical marijuana proposal passed and will soon be sold to those
persons medically eligible. My opinion on the subject is not important
or relevant.
What is relevant is the state's plan to tax the sale of it. That is
just wrong. I am not a doctor, but apparently there is enough medical
evidence to justify the usage of it to alleviate pain and suffering of
certain medical conditions.
If the state does indeed tax what has been determined to be a
medicine, one can only wonder what medicine will be next. Antibiotics,
perhaps? My true belief is the minority is not happy with the majority
passing this new law, and the tax is intended as punishment.
