POLL: 2 YEARS AFTER VOTE, PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL POT FLAT

Michigan voters support the state's medical marijuana law by nearly
the same margin by which it was adopted in the 2008 election,
according to a new poll released today by the Marijuana Policy Project.

The poll, paid for by a medical marijuana patient advocate and
conducted by Marketing Resource Group of Lansing, found that 61% of
voters said they would vote yes again or would be likely to vote yes.
Support for 2008's Proposal 1, legalizing the possession and use of
marijuana for medical reasons, was 62.6%.

Thirty-seven percent of those surveyed said they would vote no or
would lean no if they issue was before voters again, also about the
same as 2008. Only 1% said they were undecided.

A spokeswoman for the Marijuana Policy Project, which organized and
helped finance the ballot proposal, said the poll "proves that a
strong majority of Michigan voters stand firmly behind the
compassionate medical marijuana law they enacted two years ago."

The MRG telephone poll of 600 likely voters was conducted Jan. 24-27
and had a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
