WE WASTE TOO MUCH TIME, MONEY DEALING WITH MEDICAL MARIJUANA
Montanans are divided on medical marijuana. Many say that marijuana is
a harmless natural drug while others believe it's dangerous and addictive.
The Montana Legislature currently is debating a bill that would repeal
Montana's medical marijuana law, which was established in 2004. Those
opposed to the repeal say that medical marijuana is beneficial to
thousands of Montanans facing health problems. Although this could be
true in some situations, supporters of repealing the law argue that
the industry has gone far beyond what voters envisioned.
There was good reason for marijuana to be illegal in the first place.
It impairs a person's mental status and has harmful effects.
The downfall of allowing medical marijuana is that people have ways to
receive medical marijuana cards but don't plan to use the drug for
health reasons.
Liberals have been disagreeing with the repeal, only looking at the
health benefits of the drug.
Conservatives support the repeal because they believe there are other
safer ways to offer pain management that cause fewer problems and less
controversy.
But ultimately many think that despite the repeal people will find a
way to legalize marijuana again.
I personally believe medical marijuana was a terrible idea since day
one.
The only thing medical marijuana has done positively is helped those
dealing with an illness, but at what cost?
I believe we are wasting our time worrying about medical marijuana use
and believe it should be outlawed. The government of Montana has more
important things to worry about.
