ASIAN GANGS BUY UP LAND FOR GROW-OPS
Asian organized crime groups have been buying up land in the Cariboo
region and setting up sophisticated marijuana grow-operations of an
unprecedented scale.
The RCMP's Federal Drug Enforcement Branch revealed Friday that 24
people have been arrested after a massive investigation into
grow-operations with a total number of 54,000 plants.
Area residents were complaining to police in record numbers about
suspected marijuana farms sprouting up in the region.
"The grow-ops are 33 per cent bigger than they used to be," Const.
Mike McLaughlin said.
