35 ACCUSED OF SHIPPING DRUGS FROM JUAREZ TO DENVER

DENVER - Federal officials say 35 people have been indicted for
allegedly trafficking cocaine from Mexico to Denver.

Officials said Monday that the drug ring moved more than 40 pounds of
cocaine from Juarez (wahr-EHZ') - across the border from El Paso,
Texas - to the Denver area every week.

Twenty-three of those people named in the indictment were arrested
Friday without incident in Colorado. Five were arrested elsewhere -
two in El Paso, one in Illinois, one in Alabama and one in Nevada.

One was already in custody and six people remain at
large.

Agents say the cocaine came from a drug cartel in Mexico and was
transported through El Paso to Denver. They say $650,000 in cash was
seized during their investigation, including more than $500,00 from
one suspect's home.
