U.S. SHOULD INTERVENE IN MEXICO DRUG WAR
There is a war going on in Mexico that will affect us more than
Americans know. The Mexican drug cartels have been a problem in Mexico
for years, but now issues with them have reached their boiling point
and it could possibly affect the United States.
It's been nearly four years since U.S.-supported Mexican president
Felipe Calderon launched the attack on the drug cartels. Nearly 30,000
people have died in this war not many people know about. The deaths
include soldiers, police, journalists and public officials.
Some of the conflict is so close that the bullets have actually struck
American buildings. So the question is: Why don't we step in?
Mexico is being literally destroyed because of this war, since the
cartels are heavily armed and are running into towns and killing
everything and everyone in them. And this war is not affecting just
one country either. The Mexican drug cartels have penetrated 270
American cities, having the largest impact on Atlanta, which is
becoming their port for transporting and selling drugs.
This ongoing war could easily be won if the United States stepped in
and tried to reduce the market for these drugs. The U.S. government
would find it in the best interests of this country to step in and
handle this issue before it spirals out of control and innocent
American lives are lost.
