TEEN FELL TO DEATH WHILE HIGH ON LSD
It's the grimmest example of a "bad trip" imaginable.
According to a B.C. Coroner's report, Daniel Cho, a popular
17-year-old American music student who loved to make hip hop beats,
jumped a protective railing and fell down a cliff at Capilano
Suspension Bridge in June while in the throws of an LSD-induced delirium.
Coroner Mark Coleman concluded there was no evidence that Cho intended
to harm himself on June 6 when he stepped over a 1.2-metre-high
protective railing at a viewing platform and plunged 30 metres to his
death.
Cho was on a class trip to Vancouver with his music class from the San
Francisco area. Three boys including Cho consumed LSD while on a bus
from Seattle to Vancouver.
By the time the class got to Capilano Suspension Bridge two of the
boys "were no longer feeling any significant effects" from the LSD,
according to Coleman.
But Cho was seen bumping into other people, tripping and falling off
steps along the walkway, and acting aggressively, which was out of
character.
A trip chaperone spotted him climbing over a protective fence and told
him to stay on the marked path, and Cho complied at first.
Later, Cho was found in a ravine below, and died of multiple
blunt-force injuries, including severe brain injuries, Coleman ruled.
