VOTE YES ON MEASURE 74
Medical marijuana has been legal in Oregon since 1998 and if you
notice, no one has gone berserk. Actually, the only problems I read
are wasteful attempts by some local law enforcement officers to
enforce growing laws.
It is foolish to believe passing Measure 74 will increase recreational
usage. Recreational usage was happening long before we legalized it
and that won't change if we open dispensaries.
We regulate alcohol, which is a much more harmful substance, and
manage it well as grown-ups. Remember, Oregonians have already spoken
about medical marijuana in 1998 and it has worked.
Passing Measure 74 will create much-needed jobs and state revenues
through taxation and continue to give the chronically sick
alternatives of safe pain medication other than "big pharma" addictive
narcotics.
The people spoke in 1998 and the results are in: Medical marijuana
works safely. Now let's improve upon it.
