TRACY UNIFIED SUPERINTENDENT HONORED FOR DARE AWARD
TRACY - The Tracy Unified School District Board of Trustees has
honored its superintendent, Jim Franco, for being named California
DARE Educator of 2006.
Drug Abuse Resistance Education is an international anti-drug and
anti-violence program taught in schools by police officers.
Franco received the state award April 18 in Pleasanton at a training
seminar for officers in the program. He is in the running for the
national award, whose recipient will be announced in July.
The program began in Los Angeles in 1983 and has spread to 54
countries, including 80 percent of school districts in the United
States, according to the DARE Web site.
