BUSINESS MUST RESPECT SIGNS, REMOVE POT LEAF

Sometime ago, my wife and I watched a story about a soldier's death in
Afghanistan. The in-depth news story chronicled the reverberation of
devastation rippling through his young family.

I think most troubling of all was the utter lack of government support
for the widowed mother of three. We decided to make and post yellow
ribbons around Port Alberni.

This is to create awareness for the deep suffering when soldiers
families bear the hardship of war.

Recently, I have noticed another campaign of awareness around town.
Although we support the use and distribution of medical marijuana for
those who honestly need it, I do, however, find that your symbol
placed above or around the yellow ribbon seems very disrespectful to
the message.

I dislike the fact that your cause is very distracting when piggy
backing. Maybe a standalone location would be more
appropriate.

Please consider what the meaning is before you distort the message
with a pot leaf.

Please show some respect in the future.

Sincerely,

Christopher Massop
