Jailed for Medicine
ALABAMA CAN DO BETTER
Re "Ashamed of government" (Speak Out, Sept. 17), and "Anniston man
finds one state's medicine is another's illicit drug" (News article, Aug. 18):
Many people in America believe Alabama is a backwards-thinking state,
but somehow I have confidence in believing Alabama residents know the
difference between what's right and wrong and strive to live accordingly.
Caging a sick human for using what God indicates He created and says
is good on literally the very first page of the Bible is wrong.
Alabama should move quickly to make a medical exemption for Michael
Lapihuska and other sick citizens who choose to use the God-given
plant cannabis (marijuana) in order to protect them from overzealous
government. Our goal should be to love one another, and it's
ultimately the right thing to do.
