BUSES BRING IN 200 TO PROTEST MARIJUANA RAIDS
"Stop arresting patients!" was the chant of an estimated 200
medical-marijuana users and supporters who gathered Monday outside the
Oakland County Sheriff's Office to protest raids of medical-marijuana
establishments.
Six buses brought protesters from Ypsilanti, Lansing, Port Huron and
Oak Park. They carried signs that blamed Sheriff Mike Bouchard for
police brutality during the raids.
But Bouchard said: "They're in the wrong place. They should be in
Lansing" to ask for changes in the law that would make legal their
activities.
At issue is whether state law allows dispensaries, the sales outlets
the Oakland County Narcotics Enforcement Team raided last month in
Ferndale and Waterford.
