2 PERCENT REAL MEDICINE AND 98 PERCENT DRUG ABUSE
Editor:
As a citizen and healthcare provider I am very concerned about the
regulatory structure created in Prop 203, the so called "Medical"
Marijuana Initiative on the ballot for Arizona citizens Nov. 2.
In the proposition the AZ Department of Health is tasked with the
responsibility of oversight and regulation of the 125 dispensaries
that will be growing and providing marijuana if this proposition
passed. Has anyone considered the nightmare this is creating for this
department?
Law enforcement has no jurisdiction over the dispensaries, the entire
responsibility falls to the Department of Health. The initiative
infers that all visits to the dispensaries must be scheduled ahead of
time, hence not allowing for unannounced visits. My question is, what
type of control does this create?
According to the proposition the dispensaries will be run by "not for
profit" agencies, hence creating no tax revenue to be used by the
Department of Health. This proposition will place a great burden on an
already overworked division of our State Government.
There are many points of this proposition that are very concerning.
Please vote no on Proposition 203. The proposition is 2 percent real
medicine and 98 percent drug abuse.
