Re: The New Prohibition, Terence Corcoran, Aug. 7.

Terence Corcoran writes: "There is no space or need here to review
the already well-documented grotesque criminal culture and social
deterioration spawned by the U.S.-led war on drugs - a war the
Conservatives are now bringing to the streets of Canada . they are
likely to make things worse."

I thank him for speaking out on this issue; it is one of those areas
where libertarians like Mr. Corcoran and democratic socialists like
me find common cause. Stephen Harper put us on notice, when he was at
the National Citizens Coalition, that we would not recognize Canada
when he was through with it.

Well, he's a man of his word.
