WINDSOR POT SHOP OWNER DOESN'T APPEAL
The court battle is over for the Windsor medical marijuana dispensary
owner who defied the town moratorium for 76 days by keeping his
business running.
MediGrow owner Lazarus Pino declined to file the papers to appeal the
Windsor Municipal Court's decision on July 13, sentencing him to pay
$2,400 in fines.
But that doesn't mean he agrees with the decision.
"In my eyes, I feel I'm still not guilty," Pino said Friday. "Even
though the court found me guilty, I don't feel guilty."
Instead of taking his case to the Weld County Combined Courts, Pino is
going to wash his hands of Windsor and move on.
"I'm just trying to get out of Windsor and let them have their town,"
he said. "I didn't ever feel welcome there."
In December, Pino opened MediGrow at 1292 Main St. Unit 1. The Windsor
Town Board enacted a moratorium restricting new dispensaries but Pino
kept his business going while fighting in court. He was issued a
citation for each of the 76 days he remained open, each carrying a
minimum fine of $50 and a maximum fine of $300. The maximum fine he
could've been charged was as much as $22,800.
