LOCAL LEADERS TO HOST FIRST DRUG FREE COMMERCE DAY
COMMERCE - Local leaders in government, education and law enforcement
plan to host the first Drug Free Commerce Day later this month.
The free July 15 event at Commerce City Hall will feature guest
speakers, videos and more.
Activities are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Commerce City
Council chamber. Mayor Quay Throgmorton will provide the welcome and
greetings, alongside Texas A&M-Commerce President Dr. Dan Jones,
Commerce Independent School District Superintendent Blake Cooper and
Texas A&M-Commerce Head Football Coach Guy Morris.
A video, "Consequences" will be shown at 9:45 a.m., followed by a drug
and alcohol simulation conducted inside the Commerce Police Department
by the City of Commerce and Texas A&M-Commerce Police
departments.
An alcohol and drug education fair will take place back in the Council
chamber at 11 a.m., followed by a free lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers
and drinks behind City Hall.
The Drug Free Commerce Day will conclude with a presentation in the
Council chamber of the video "The Hollywood Henderson Story-Former
Dallas Cowboy Star."
