DO THE TIME
Letter-writer Emile Therien proposes conditional sentencing since our
current system does not reduce chances of re-offending.
I am fed up with a system where criminals are given bail so they can
ply their trades to pay their defence attorneys. I am fed up with the
system that hands conditional sentences to anyone who kills and then
claims some mental disorder exactly at the time they pulled the
trigger. I am fed up with youth who spit in the face of our law
officers, knowing that they will be handed minimal time in some
reformatory. I am fed up with the situation where police officers do
a great job catching these criminals,, only to see some social
do-gooder judge let them off the hook.
Criminals love it when people like Mr. Therien make a case to defend
our law and order system that simply rewards the criminal and
penalizes the victim.
If you do the crime, you must do the time. Anything else will be
received with great joy in the land of the criminal.
