PEER OUTREACH HELP BATTLE TEEN ADDICTION

Meth has been one of the biggest drug problems in the Hawaiian
Islands, not just for adults but also for youth.

As teenagers, we know what the drug is but believe that it cannot
affect us in anyway, that we will not end up another meth statistic.

I chose to join the Hawaii Meth Project's Teen Advisory Council,
created this year, because I wanted to help spread the word to my
friends and others about how one mistake can cause consequences that
you will have to live with for the rest of your life.

Peer outreach is more effective than lectures from
adults.

Although the commercials might be a little graphic, what happens is
real, and teens should see how destructive meth is to them and
everyone around them.

I hope that when other teenagers see how passionate we are in
preventing first-time meth use, they will join us in our effort and
take a stand against meth.
