LET BLEEDING HEARTS BLEED
While I agree with much of The Province's Sunday editorial on crime I
disagree with the idea that rehabilitation is, or should be, the
primary reason for incarceration.
The primary reason should be punishment for a crime committed.
Rehabilitation is for those who show merit. Many cannot and will not
be rehabilitated.
This is not vengeance but simply cause and effect. If we take away
punishment the criminal knows nothing will happen.
We willingly slag the U.S. but for many years our system hasn't
worked. It's time for a change, and the bleeding hearts can go bleed
somewhere else.
