POINTLESS RAID
Re: "Cops bust cigarillos, pot ring" (Gazette, June 17).
So, for the probably 10,000th time, the police busted a large
family-run marijuana farm and distributorship. Might I ask for what
purpose? Was it to finally shut down the pot industry once and for
all? No. Was it to put even a small dent in the underground production
of cannabis? Not even. Was this bust supposed to make anyone stop
smoking weed? As if. Was it to get extremely dangerous criminals off
the street? Pot growers? Don't make me laugh.
So then, someone please tell me, what was the reason for a massive
police operation, using hundreds, if not thousands of manhours and
resources, to then clog up our judicial and penal systems with what
most people consider as harmless entrepreneurs? The only thing I can
think of is that the people running that show are insane, the popular
definition of insanity being: doing the same thing over and over again
and expecting different results.
