'PRINCE OF POT' IN SOLITARY CONFINEMENT
SEATTLE - Canada's self-styled Prince of Pot, Marc Emery, who is
awaiting sentencing on drug charges in the United States, has been put
in solitary confinement for breaking prison rules, his wife says.
Jodie Emery says her husband was put in the Security Housing Unit at
the SeaTac Federal Detention Centre in Seattle, Wash., on June 3 after
she recorded a phone conversation with him meant for public broadcast.
"He was immediately remorseful," said Ms. Emery, adding her husband
did not realize he had done anything wrong.
After being extradited last month to the United States from Canada,
Emery, 51, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture marijuana.
Emery's business sold marijuana seeds to customers in the U.S.,
authorities said. Emery will be sentenced in August, after which he
can apply for transfer to Canada.
