CAUSE OF METH USE

What caused the meth epidemic in Hawaii? A few weeks ago at a public
meeting in Volcano, I asked Police Chief Kubojiri to produce any
studies he knows of that sought to find the cause of the meth epidemic
in Hawaii. He said didn't know and he'd get back to me.

Two weeks later, I called the chief's office and reminded his
secretary of my request. Maj. Sam Thomas called me the next day and
said they would get back to me in a few days.

Tick-tock, tick-tock ...

Relatively, our police department solves a lot of crimes and, except
for the war on marijuana, is generally an asset to the community. They
are very good at most police and detective work, etc.

So, HPD -- after all the years (decades!) of police and detective work
you've done -- and the multi-million$ of grant money dollar$ spent
here, please tell us: What caused the meth epidemic in Hawaii? Mahalo.
