GIVE POLICE CHIEF HELP TAKING OUT PEORIA'S TRASH

Re. May 8 editorial, "Better quality of life? Stop gangs and guns":

There are many neighborhoods that one can say are safe: Edgewild, The
Knolls and Knollcrest, to name just three. Note the areas where the
problems are, as stated in the editorial. That should give you a hint.

Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard has a big job in trying the curb the
violence. Instead of litter, jaywalking, etc., time should be spent
in crushing the gangs of Peoria. This city is not that big that it
can't be stopped. Police react to the violence instead of being
proactive, it seems.

Don't start with trying to ban guns because it will only hurt honest,
law-abiding citizens.

Infiltrate the enemy and drive them out and/or lock them up before
these slimeballs destroy the city.

The leaders at City Hall ought to shudder when they see honest
citizens moving out to the surrounding areas - i.e. Dunlap,
Germantown Hills, Washington and East Peoria - and new people
concerned about moving to this city. There is no reason for the
law-abiding, tax-paying people of Peoria to have to put up with this trash.

Chief, if you need help, ask for it; that will not diminish your
standing in the community. We all need help at some time in our lives
or careers.
