MP'S OFFICE TARGETED BY POT PRINCE PROTESTORS

Two protestors opposed to the extradition of marijuana guru Marc
Emery took their concerns to Nanaimo-Alberni MP James Lunney's office Thursday.

Bob Estes and David Hogkinson, both of Parksville wave placards and
chanted "Free Marc" for several hours

The pair said the Conservative government sold Emery out by handing
him over to the U.S. for selling marijuana seeds through the mail.

The protest coincided with the transfer of Emery to the U.S. to start
his five-year sentence.

Some looked curiously at the protestors. Many stopped to give words
of encouragement.

"It's a travesty," said one middle-aged man as he briefly pulled his
car alongside the two protestors. Another handed them soft drinks.

The protest was about educating the public about the Conservative
stance on the issue .

"It's basically to spread awareness of how the Conservative
government has sold us up the river to Americans," Estes said.

"Regardless of people's opinion whether Marc is a hero or not, we
just sent a Canadian citizen to the U.S. for a crime that would draw
a $200 fine in Canada. He's going to do five years in the U.S.," Estes said.

Canada's self-proclaimed Prince of Pot has been on bail since the
fall, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to manufacturing marijuana
in the U.S. He was ordered extradited Monday to face drug and
money-laundering charges in the United States.
