MAKE RAVES SAFER
I sympathize when families suffering from a teen's drug-related death
call for stiffer penalties for dealers. Unfortunately, they are just
confusing the issue. The tougher the sentences, the more control
organized gangs have, since they have the resources to spare. One way
to make these "raves" safer is almost embarassingly easy: allow free
drug-testing booths inside party venues so that those who insist on
using can at least know what they are getting into. Sound
ineffective? It isn't: most drug deaths come from impurities and the
wrong dose.

(Not sure that would work.)
