SMOKED OUT
Re: "Report Card," April 22-28
It is no accident that support for legalizing marijuana in Canada is
growing; almost every Canadian has tried pot in their youth. What is
surprising is the lack of support for the legalization of harder
drugs. I submit that this response is based on the lack of understanding of
the real drug problems and the nature of the questions asked by
pollsters regarding this legalization.
If the question was phrased in the wording of removing the profits
that keep all the supporters of criminalizations of the law-breaking
and law-abiding factions rich, I feel that the answers would be very
different. A law-and-order response has not worked and it is time to
re-assess the problem.
