REPORTING POTENTIAL DRUG DEALERS

Fairview Post -- Reporting suspicions of a drug dealer in your area
isn't a complicated procedure according to RCMP Const. Patrick Lessard.

"It doesn't matter what your suspicions or what information you do or
don't have," explains Lessard. Lessard says that people can phone the
RCMP directly at 835-4031 and provide their personal and complaint information.

If hesitant to do that, people are encouraged to phone and report
their complaint anonymously. In that case, only the police will know
the informant's information and it will not be released. A third
option is to phone CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The constable says there are telltale signs to look for when trying
to spot a potential drug house.

"The two major signs are unkept yards and people coming and going at
all hours," says Lessard. "There will be short, frequent trips to the
house made by several people."

Lessard goes on to say that an unkept yard is a key sign because the
people who live there either may just not care about their property,
or they might only use the property as a growing or cooking operation.

"If you do suspect your neighbour don't approach them directly or
take any action yourself," warns the police officer. "Please go the
the RCMP and we'll take it from there."
