READERS URGE FORWARD-THINKING SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS OF DRUG ABUSE

The Canadian drug problem needs Canadian solutions that reflect our
evolving needs and influences from countries where our new immigrants
come from, not a European solution. The raw truth is that the
Europeans have no solution. Their drug problems are just as rampant as ours.

Drug users are victims and have to be treated as such. In Singapore,
all drug users are placed in a detox centre and treated until they
are drug-free. It is a much better solution that we have. This might
be a more effective way of dealing with drug users than all the "harm
reduction" initiatives. As a caring society, our priority is to set
free our fellow Canadians from the evils of drug use, not to help
them to continue wasting their lives.
