CLEAN NEEDLES NO SOLUTION

Re: "Sharper approach to drug addiction needed," Mindelle Jacobs, (Feb. 7).
Her clean needle approach is not the solution. It aggravates the problem.
The felon continues his drug addiction and upon release continues his
criminal activity to support the habit. It is now a problem for police and
continues to be a problem for health services. A better solution is to
tighten security on what is passing into our prison system and make it
mandatory for addicts to go into rehab, which I believe is available in our
prison system. If it isn't, make it so.
