DEA'S RAID ON COLORADO MARIJUANA GROWER GOOD

Re: "Major metro grower jailed," Feb. 13 news story.

Kudos to Jeff Sweetin and the drug enforcement agents under his courageous
leadership. The raid of the alleged marijuana grower in Highlands Ranch and
the arrest of the suspected drug cultivator were not only appropriate, but
very necessary to send a message to all in Colorado who believe in the
misguided attempts to legalize, through revision of the state constitution,
or proposed legislative action, the cultivation and distribution of
marijuana, that federal law still trumps that of the states.

Anyone who would violate the federal controlled substances act by
growing and selling marijuana, which is a Schedule I dangerous drug,
should be arrested and prosecuted in the federal courts, despite
myriad questionable attempts to convince the people of Colorado and 13
other states that it is somehow lawful. It's high time (no pun
intended) that someone like Mr. Sweetin stepped up and did what is
right. Too bad there are not more like him. He is to be congratulated,
not berated.
