DRUG DEALERS NOW VS. THEN
Dear Editor,
I am currently repairing a floor in the rental unit at the News
office.
I removed two layers of carpeting and then one layer of linoleum.
Beneath the linoleum, the floor was covered with some old editions of
the Vancouver Sun, dated Thursday, May 10, and Friday, May 11, 1956.
I gathered them all together and gave them to the publisher of the
Bridge River-Lillooet News; that is, all but one piece of news.
It was about a dope peddler who was found guilty of distributing
narcotics.
He was a resident of Stave Falls and was found in possession of 100
heroin capsules.
He was sentenced to seven years in jail. The judge said dope peddling
is a nefarious practice that destroys body and soul.
I'm curious: is the law today tougher or easier on drug
dealers?
