"El Paso City Council got it right the first time," says Bakersfield,
Calif. letter writer Floyd Krautner. Wrong!

Legalizing drugs in El Paso isn't the answer for anything except
increasing the number of fatalities on our streets and more crime.
What we don't need is someone from California, particularly from
Bakersfield, telling us how to run our city.

We are the second safest city in America for one reason: good law
enforcement and an endless fight against drugs and drunken driving.

I've been to Bakersfield. The best view of Bakersfield is in a
rear-view mirror. They've got some big problems there that El Paso
just doesn't need.
