IDEOLOGICAL BLINKERS ARE CLEAR
Dear Editor:
Re: Who's wearing blinders, Letters to the editor, Burnaby NOW, Feb. 24.
Eva Derton says Keith Baldrey should "pay attention to the wording of
his letter" chastising the prime minister over his ideological
opposition to InSite. Perhaps the Burnaby NOW editors should also pay
attention to Derton's wording: Her fourth paragraph is almost verbatim
to a Conservative Party e-mail to their partisans, calling on them to
help with an Astroturf letter-writing campaign smearing supervised
injection sites, which peer-reviewed science says works to decrease
crime, infection from HIV/AIDS and other negative health factors.
While we know who Derton votes for, perhaps she should voice her
opposition in her own words instead of those of the Prime Minister's
Office in Ottawa.
Ideological blinkers, indeed.
